If I Were Hosting Easter

I’ve yet to host a major family holiday, but often set ideas aside for the day when I do. If I were hosting Easter this year, here are some things I’d like to try.

I’d start with a  blue and green theme inspired by these photos from The Party Dress

Blue and Green Easter Brunch from The Party Dress

Isn’t that egg garland in the top right picture cute? The idea from The Party Dress is to string Easter eggs (that you have blown out, and died blue and lime green) to make a garland and then swirl it down the center of your table. Here’s a tutorial from Martha Stewart.

I also love the idea of flowers at each individual place settings instead of as the centerpiece. As the folks at The Party Dress say, placing a small vase of flowers on each guest’s plate adds a nice, natural touch to the table, and will also serve as a party favor.

Ceramic Easter Bunny, Sitting

I’d also include some white ceramic bunnies on the table. Of course these bunnies from Pottery Barn are adorable. I bet, though, that if you went to a thrift store and found some less-attractive bunnies in any color they could be spray painted white for just about the same look, but a lot less money.

For the kids table, these Cheeky Chickens are super easy and super fun.

But these Chubby Bunnies are even better! Plus, they would be easier to incorporate with the blue and green theme.

I just ordered aqua tablecloths, fresh flowers and tiny glass vases for each guest. My family will think I’ve been taken over by the Easter bunny. I got the cutest little 2 x 2 square vases for just $1.45 each! Thanks for the inspiration.

Fantastic! You should take a photo of your table. I’m jealous! Maybe I’ll decorate a fake table just for fun. :)
